Ticktocker Committee Interest Form

Please read the Committee Descriptions below to assist you in choosing positions that interest you. Please indicate your top 5 choices below. Each member must serve in some capacity, so members who do not complete the form will be placed in a position based on need. Thank you for your commitment to the Sugar Land Jewels Chapter and our community!

***If you are serving as a Board member, GLA, Philanthropy Liaison, you do not need to fill out this form---you will automatically be placed on the committee associated with your position (i.e., GLA Committee, Standards Committee, Philanthropy Liaison Committee, etc.).

 

 

 

 

 

 

Committee Descriptions:

 

Budget & Finance Committee (Chair - Treasurer) Assist the board treasurer in preparing the budget for Board and Membership approval.

Communications Committee - (Chair – VP Communications) Assist with gathering content for the Sugar Land Jewels monthly newsletter, gathering information for and posting on social media, and helping keep the chapter website up to date.

End of Year Awards Committee - This committee plans all aspects of the End of Year Awards Ceremony Meeting. This ceremony honors all Ticktockers and Patronesses who have earned NCL and President's Volunteer Service Awards. Outgoing/Incoming Board members are also recognized as part of this ceremony.

Financial Review Committee - This committee conducts an annual review of the financial records. The review occurs during June or July, following the close of the fiscal year. An Annual Financial Review Checklist is provided by NCL, Inc.

GLA/Ticktocker Education and Support Committee - Help educate Ticktockers about Ticktocker non-board position requirements; provide mentorship and general support to the GLA’s. Assist with Ticktocker council meeting coordination and administrative duties and other general needs to help unite and elevate the core program.

Inspiration Committee – Assists in setting the tone and atmosphere at the beginning of meetings and Chapter events. Arranges for a Patroness to present an inspirational reading, 2–3 minutes in length that fits with the theme. Inspirational readings are also a great way to highlight one of the Mission pillars. Research and keep a journal of inspirational readings, and consider keeping the archives on your Chapter website in an online library for future use. Reports to VP Chapter Engagement and Inclusion.

Membership Committee (Chair – VP Membership)
The purpose of the Membership Committee is to determine Ticktocker Class sizes and openings, facilitate the member selection process and recommend actions concerning membership status and the Chapter membership drive. The committee shall contain a representative from each grade level.

New Member Welcome Committee - (Chair – VP New Members) Check in with each New Member periodically throughout the year to ensure they feel included and connected. This is also a great way to discover their personal interests and strengths so that you can recommend possible roles for them in the future or recommend them to committees. The key is to make New Members feel included and welcome, and to ensure they get engaged in the Chapter and are set-up for success as a Member. Committee members will also help distribute welcome items throughout the year.

Parliamentary Committee - This Committee considers, processes and seeks approval for proposed amendments to Chapter documents.

Senior Recognition Committee – This committee plays an integral part in successfully honoring a chapter’s Seniors and is responsible for planning and executing all elements of Senior Recognition, including but not limited to: reviewing chapter policies and procedures pertaining to Senior Recognition, managing the budget, planning the program (including but not limited to speakers, slideshows, videos, etc.), ensuring chapter traditions are followed, designing the event (including but not limited to invitations, decorations, memorabilia, mementos, etc.). Senior Rec. Chair(s) – overall event responsibility, including but not limited to venue coordination, committee management, planning timeline, budget management, and chapter board updates. Chairs report to VP Chapter Engagement and Inclusion, VP Ticktockers.

Tea (& Fashion Show) Committee – A cherished tradition in every NCL Chapter beginning with the first Mother-Daughter Tea in 1947, the Tea serves as a framework to cultivate NCL’s core values and strengthen the Mother-Daughter bond while practicing the art of etiquette and enhancing personal growth. The Mother/Daughter Tea is held annually in the Fall. The Junior Class is recognized and the Junior Class Patronesses and Ticktockers participate in a fashion show. Tea Chair(s) - selection of the location (confirm with Chapter President) and all meeting arrangements, assists with setting the agenda as needed and works with the Treasurer on venue payment. The Tea Committee works on all the details of the event with the Chair(s). The details include: tea theme, invitation, RSVP list, Fashion Show, agenda/program, seating arrangement, food/drinks, decorations, grade level jobs and thank you notes. Reports to VP Chapter Engagement and Inclusion.
